Yeehaw and hallelujah, y’all!! This band of backwoods, Texas renegades are gonna save your souls one whiskey-soaked hellraiser show at a time.
“The Kidds are a combustible mix of renegade country and hellbilly rock ‘n roll that you just gotta see live. Their frontwoman is a beguiling firecracker, an angelic southern belle with a voice of honeyed velvet one moment and a wildcat wailing the next. Flanked by her brothers on the bass, guitar, and drums, The Kidds merge timeless Texas twang with uncompromising, southern rock ‘n roll.”
Showcasing world-class musicianship and deeply soulful songcraft drawn from the wells of American roots music, The Kidds spin yarns of heartbreak, sin, and redemption that’ll have you laughing one minute and ducking for cover the next in a live show that is a full-tilt, tent revival musical baptism.
Cousin Anthony
LITTLE SIS
vocals & guitar
This winsome firecracker fronting The Kidds is stealing the heart of country music and giving it one helluva ride. From the art up her arms and down her legs, her canvas pays tribute to her unique brand of new-age honky tonk . . . one part old-school Texas twang, one part psychedelic frontier acid trip. When she kicks into one of her signature tunes, it’s like being transported to a sublime plane where Patsy Cline ran off with the mescaline shaman. One second she’s trilling out a tear-jerking ballad fragile as a summer cicada’s hum, and the next she’s belting with the raw, whiskey-soaked rasp of a mama coyote. With her favorite beat up parlor guitar, she strums out the rhythms and lays down the bedrock of The Kidds tales of heartbreak, self-sabotage, and woes of sorrow on the road.
LITTLE BROTHER
vocals & guitar
He may seem like just another good ol’ boy at first glance, but don’t let that permanent grin fool ya, cousins. Texas born, and dance-hall raised, our little brother is as ornery as a caged grizzly, but he’ll still charm the wheat outta your daughter. Crooning a mournful tune about busted hearts in his lonesome tenor, that coal-fired yowl still comes roaring outta nowhere, louder and meaner than a mountain lion on the prowl. His guitar-playing is a fiery blend of influences, mixing Delta blues, Detroit soul, and sweet southern rock ‘n roll. Conjured up from the mountains of west Texas, he’s one part howling reprobate, one part renegade country musician.
MIDDLEST BROTHER
drums & vocals
Well buckle up them church pants nice ‘n tight cause you’re about to meet the biggest, baddest, most gloriously-tressed drum-beating sumbitch there ever was. As skull-splitting powerful as our middlest brother’s drum chops undoubtedly are, it’s that lush, luxuriant mane that tends to steal the show. His hair is so thick, even the Bluebonnet Queen of Travis County would cut her own sad, stringy locks out of pure envy. He lets his arms and legs do the sermonizing for him from behind his drum cathedral while he seamlessly shifts between bank-robber shuffles, chicken-scratch downbeats, and stagecoach gallops. But every so often he’ll let loose and add his sweet voice to The Kidds signature multi-part harmonizing.
BIG BROTHER
bass & vocals
The trunk-rattling bass lines laid down by our big brother are most definitely the heavy-duty engine that keeps The Kidds barreling full-tilt boogie down the devil’s road. If the earth ain’t fixin’ to shake apart at the tectonic plates when he picks the strings, just wait until he blows on that magic harp strapped to his mic stand. That’s right, folks… when he plays the kazoo he fills the very air we breathe with a hellfire symphony of buzzsaw that adds an element of dangerous whimsy to his sonic grooves. Just wait until he throws in that third-harmony and you’ll think you heard an angel singing straight from the pearly gates. Of course, nothing quite seals this greased-up wildcat’s sense of ragged authenticity like that jingling key ring dangling off his hip.
